Omega-6 and omega-3 fats are considered to be “essential” because the human body cannot create these fats from other foods - they must be obtained from eating foods that have these fats.  Omega-6 fats are found in many natural foods so if you eat plants and animals then it is nearly impossible to become deficient in omega-6.  Many people consume too many omega-6 fats from eating unhealthy oils (like those named above).  This is toxic to the body and can create many health issues.  Opt for consuming oils such as coconut and olive oil instead of those high in omega-6 in order to improve your health. Fyi…peanuts are NOT nuts, they are legumes.  Legumes are toxicologically similar to grains and have developed toxins against mammals.  (Think of all the people allergic to peanuts…) Some of these toxins can be removed (for instance soaking beans overnight and cooking them for long hours) but it is best to stay away from legumes if you are trying to achieve optimal health.
This chart shows the various types of fat in each nut/seed.  It is best to eat nuts that are high in monounsaturated fats and low in omega-6 and omega-3 (almonds, macadamia nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, pistachios).
